Session 4

Workshop:

90's Club Culture

The Designers Republic:

While 90's Club culture & The designers Republic is not the aesthetic that i in vision my final project to take the form of i can find inspiration in it.

there is a strong use of shape as a branding tool in these designs. the distinctive style and fluency of text and logo makes the posters work really well as a whole and allows a viewer to instantly recognise the brand from either the colour, style , text and/ or shape.

Joshua Davis, Web Interactivity:

Joshua Davis' style is very colourful and intricate. The detailed designs that he create are complicated and busy, they dont appear soft to the eye but rather disorientating and confusing in a way. Davis's designs are very geometric and appear difficult to create. I personally dont like this style of graphic design, i dont think it will inspire my final project in any way, the style that i still want to replicate is the grunge aesthetic, and this style confirms this.

Workshop
This week we had an intro to illustrator. I think that i will use different software like Indesign and photoshop however illustrator is a good way to get your head around graphics and how to create different things with different software. Most of the Adobe Software is quite similar so it was relatively easy to pick up.

Homework
I did some more reasearch into some artists which i had not come across before which was peter bankov...

Bankov inpsired me the most when it comes to this module and how and what i want to develop and create.

I like the mix of bright colour and dull monotonous colour. i like the juxtaposition and feel that it conveys a  jarring yet satisfying aesthetic. It pays homage to david carsons style with his use of text and informal positioning of letters.

Peter Bankov's Design:

My Response:

I started the design above in class and finished it in my own time. i wanted to directly replicate Bankov's work with some of my own influences. At this point i still dont have a clear theme but i do quite like this style. as previously stated i like the contrast between elements of colour and dark, black shapes painted over the top.
